Transports of Relief Goods

Through my contacts with leprosy patients in the countries of the former Soviet Union, I experienced the great distress that these people were facing. Immediate supply of medication, medical relief goods, clothes and partly also food was required urgently.
We therefore organised “packing campaigns” and clothes, underwear, etc. was collected, sorted and packed into boxes. This was a very time-consuming and painstaking work. The parish members of both denominations took care of this task..
All in all, 10 semi-trailer trucks set off from Dinslaken towards leprosy and tuberculosis patients between 1996 and 2000. All of them reached their destinations, sometimes after adventurous journeys.
From 2005 to 2015, we supported leprosy patients in countries of the former USSR by means of these transports every year. In the year 2014, we even arranged for 3 transports of relief goods towards the East.
